Product types
What Forbo makes
Linoleum is the best-known Forbo product. It is made from linseed oil, wood flour and similar natural ingredients, then pressed onto a backing.
Forbo also sells vinyl sheet, luxury vinyl planks and tiles, carpet tile and walk-off matting for entries.
Where Forbo suits
Linoleum is used in rooms that see steady daily use, such as classrooms, libraries, clinics and corridors. The colours run deep through the material, so it ages evenly.
- Schools and universities
- Care homes and health clinics
- Public offices and libraries
How Forbo floors are specified and laid
Linoleum is a sheet or tile product, so it needs a flat, dry base. We test the slab and prepare it before any adhesive goes down.
It is stored in the room for a short time before laying so it can settle. Joins are then welded or sealed, and the floor receives its first care treatment as the maker advises.
What to ask before you choose
- Do you prefer a natural material?
- How will the floor be kept in good order?
- Is the room damp or likely to flood?
- Do you need matting at the entry?
Forbo vinyl sheet
Sheet vinyl comes in wide rolls with welded joins, which gives one smooth, easy-to-clean surface.

Questions
Is linoleum the same as vinyl?
No. Linoleum is made from natural ingredients, while vinyl is a plastic product. Both are sold as sheet and tile.
Does linoleum need special care?
It needs a care routine suited to its surface, which we pass on at handover. The maker's instructions apply.
Does Vanishpro say it is a certified Forbo installer?
No. We make no such claim. We simply supply and lay the products to the maker's guidance.
