Step two: installation

This is where the plan becomes a floor. Our crew works in a set order, keeps the site tidy and finishes the details properly.

Quality checks as we go

Our installers check their work as the floor goes down. They look at joins, pattern lines and edges, and they correct small faults while the adhesive is still workable. Fixing a problem early is quicker than finding it after handover.

Getting ready on the day

Before work starts, we confirm access, parking, power and the areas we will use. Material is delivered and left in the room for a short time so it settles to the temperature of the space. That helps many products lie flat and stay put.

Preparing the base

Old coverings come up, the slab is cleaned and any repairs are made. Levelling compound goes down where the floor is uneven, and primers go on where the product needs them.

Laying the floor

Our installers set out the room first, so cuts at the edges look even and patterns run straight. Then the floor is laid using the adhesive and method the maker calls for.

  • Vinyl planks and tiles are fixed and rolled to bed them in.
  • Vinyl sheet is cut to fit, joined and often heat welded for a sealed seam.
  • Carpet tile is laid to a chosen pattern, such as brick or quarter turn.
  • Broadloom is stretched or glued down, depending on the product.

Finishing the details

Edges, thresholds, skirtings and joins get the same care as the open floor. Trims are fitted, gaps are sealed and transitions between different surfaces are made safe and neat.

Working around your building

Many sites cannot stop for flooring. We can stage the work by floor, wing or room, and run after hours when needed. We protect lifts, walls and neighbouring areas, and we clear rubbish as we go.

If we find something unexpected, such as a damp patch or a damaged slab, we tell you straight away and talk through the options.

Before we leave

We check the finished floor against the plan, clear the area and then arrange the handover.
