Royal Children's Hospital — Heritage Building
Melbourne, VIC. Sheet vinyl and carpet tile laid inside an older building of a working Melbourne hospital.
The older building belongs to the Royal Children's Hospital, which stays open every day. Floors there had to be clean and tough, and fitted without upsetting patients, families or staff.
Polyflor sheet vinyl with welded joins covered the clinical and busy zones, giving a surface that wipes clean. Godfrey Hirst carpet tile went into offices and quieter admin rooms, where it softens sound. The crew planned each step around the running hospital so areas stayed in use.
